Last week when I was driving on backroad I've never been down before, I suddenly noticed this amazing field of yellow flowers. I instantly knew I had to do a shoot there, and I texted my sisters asking who was willing to be my volunteer model. My youngest sister Abby heartily accepted, and we headed out yesterday for a little mini shoot. Well what was supposed to just be a low-key test shoot turned into a beautiful session that I never expected! Abby nailed it and I could not be happier with the result! I can't wait to take advantage of this location again soon. Here are a few of my favorites!
Last weekend I had the pleasure of meeting with Josh and Sara for their engagement photos. Since my first meeting with them in January, I knew Josh and Sara were going to be some of the sweetest, most down-to-earth people I have ever worked with. Strolling through the muddy fields on that cloudy Saturday, we talked about the house they're building, Sara's dream of grand stables for her horses, and of course their upcoming wedding. I love seeing these two interact. They seem to be fully themselves together, and it was a joy to capture that through photographs. I can't wait to shoot their wedding in May, and witness them finally become husband and wife!
Now enjoy these favorite from their shoot!
This week I had the pleasure of meeting with Josh and Katharine to take their engagement photos. I had such a wonderful time working with these two! Josh and Katharine's joy is contagious. Their silliness together is adorable and their friendship is heartwarming. I loved hearing all about their love story, Josh's proposal (and Katharine's too!), and their dreams of a cute little house with a fenced-in backyard and a dog. :) Thank you for the wonderful time, friends! I wish you both the best as you plan your wedding in June, work towards your medical dreams, and continue to pursue each other. Now enjoy these favorites from the shoot!
It was the coldest day of the season so far, but the sun poured golden light all around The Barn at Shady Lane, making everything look warm and creamy. The barn smelled of fresh flowers and peppermint icing. This was a shoot I had been looking forward to for months.
Every detail fell into place perfectly, from the beautiful florals by Stems and Styles, to the delicious wedding cake by Angie's Cakes. Somer Howe did Ren's hair and makeup, while I snuck away with her wedding dress, altered beautifully by her grandmother, for some detail portraits.
After that, the newlyweds and I headed out to begin shooting. We enjoyed cake, hot apple cider, and a walk in the sun. I couldn't have chosen a better couple to work with, their chemistry was just the easiest thing in the world to capture! Not to mention their willingness to endure the cold for the sake of our photos! ;)
I am so thankful to everyone who helped make this day possible. I couldn't have done it without you!
This weekend I had the joy of working with a very special family. After a long story of God's faithfulness, Melissa and Andrew were unexpectedly blessed with not one but TWO precious babies earlier this year (you can read more about their story on Melissa's blog), and I was so excited for the opportunity to take their first photos as a family of four! Life (and photography) is always unpredictable when little ones are involved, but we rolled with the punches and captured so many precious moments that I absolutely love! Thank you so much for a wonderful shoot, friends. Squish those chubby cheeks for me! :)
