This past weekend I jumped on the road with my five closest friends and headed out for a girls’ getaway in beautiful Charleston, South Carolina. This was my first time in the city, and I absolutely fell in love! The colorful architecture, rich history, delicious food, and everything in between makes this city a must-see. We didn’t even scratch the surface of all there is to do there! But even so, my girl friends and I had such a wonderful time exploring, eating, laughing, and of course making time for a little downtown photoshoot! I love these ladies and loved getting to take pretty pictures of them in such a beautiful place. Here are a few of my favorites!
It’s almost Christmas!! I am so so excited! I am one of those Christmas people who is obsessed with every little part of this season. My husband even jokingly calls me Mrs. Claus. :) So I have been planning on doing some Christmas themed shoots for quite a while now! When I saw these pretty lights go up near my house I knew I wanted to take advantage of them. Then, this week my brother Luke who lives 600 miles away arrived for the holidays, so I proposed the idea of this photoshoot to him! He donned his most festive outfit and joined me in Old Town Helena, along with my sister Hannah, and we all got in on the fun! I loved this shoot so much, and am obsessed with these festive photos!
Hoping you all have a wonderful holiday with your friends and family! I can’t wait to spend the next two weeks with mine! <3
Happy December everyone! The past few weeks have been a flurry of mini sessions, holiday celebrations, and baby preparations for me so I haven't had a chance to blog in a while! But I didn't want to let the time get away from me without wishing you all a happy holiday season, and I thought my own personal family photos would be a fun post to wrap up this year!
This post is actually a compilation of two separate shoots. We had our original family photoshoot a few weeks ago on a very cold and blustery day, and then about a week later we had a spare afternoon and much nicer weather, so we decided to run out for just a few more photos together. This year's family photos are particularly special, because they are our last as a family of three (well, three plus a giant bump)! We are so excited to welcome our little girl in just a few weeks, but wanted to document this time with our firstborn as well. I know we will treasure these for years to come, and I hope you enjoy a few of our favorites!
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, from my family to yours! I can't wait to see what next year holds!
Guys! I can't believe its time to start another year! New Year is one of my favorite times ever - it's so inspiring, and I always feel this energized buzz to do a million things at once! Looking back on where I was this time last year, I could not be more thankful for the strides I and my business have taken this year. I had the privilege to shoot and second-shoot several weddings, put together a styled shoot with an amazing vendor team, take classes, participate in challenges, and shoot more than any other year in my business. So thank you friends, family, mentors, and of course clients for making it possible!
I love looking back at the end of the year on all I was able to be a part of, so today I thought I would share some of my favorite behind-the-scenes captures from this year. There were so many more shoots this year that aren't featured here (as I don't always have another photographer along to be my paparazzi Haha!), but I hope you enjoy these little glimpses! (Thank you to all of my friends and assistants for these - Kirk, Ashlyn, Tiffany, and Hannah!)
I hope you all have a happy and safe New Years Eve! Catch you next year! ;)
That’s right! This time ME and my husband Bret got some time in front of the camera! I am so excited!!
I had been dying for some updated photos of Bret and me for months and months, and then, with the arrival of a sudden warm week in February, I took it as a sign and finally made it happen! My little sister Hannah always does a marvelous job helping me with personal photos and this time was no exception. She took my bossiness like a champ, and produced beautiful results. :) Many thanks Hannah! Now here are some of my favorites. I hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
I know it's a cliche thing to say, but I really can't believe this year has gone by so fast! I feel like last Christmas was just a few months ago! I am the type of person who loves to look back and reminisce, so I thought "What would be a better way to wrap up the 2015 season on this blog than to look back at my favorite shoots of the year?" This was an amazing year for Emily Rose Photography, and I couldn't be more thankful to everyone who worked with me, supported me, and helped me along through my many endeavors this year. Thank you especially to my clients, to my husband, and to my family. I'm so excited about what the 2016 season holds! Now I hope you enjoy this look back at 2015!
The year started with me finally investing in a camera upgrade that I had been wishing and saving for since I started my business. What a way to kick off an amazing year for Emily Rose Photography! The second the camera arrived, I went out for a practice shoot with my little one. This is him playing in the back of his grandpa's truck. :)
One of my first official shoots of the year was with my sister, Kate. I still love the wonderful headshots that we got on this brisk day in March.
My session with the W family followed soon after. It was almost spring, and we had lots of fun playing in the gardens in the late afternoon sun.
Early April brought Chris and Crystal's engagement session. This is one of my favorite ring shots of the year!
In mid-April I had the unique opportunity to shoot a prom, which was a first for me. It ended up being one of my favorite experiences of the year! All of the kids were amazing to work with, and the photos came out beautifully.
May brought Brian's senior session at Railroad Park. I loved hanging out and catching up with Brian while we shot his portraits!
I was also able to squeeze in a mini-session with Chalice and the adorable littles she was babysitting over the year. Look how cute!
Early Summer started with James and Brooke's 1-Year-Anniversary session at their alma mater where they met! Their puppy Dottie even joined in on the fun!
One of this year's favorites was this sweetheart session with my good friends and small group leaders! They were so much fun to work with!
On a hot July evening I had the pleasure of working with my little brothers and sisters-in-law. They all matched in little yellow outfits, which went perfectly with the yellow roses at The Botanical Gardens.
Another highlight this year was my headshot exchange with my good friend, Ashlyn. Her photos turned out beautifully, and I am thrilled with the headshots she took of me!
David and Emma's sweetheart session in August was another favorite, especially because David was completely surprised! Also can I mention that I have the most photogenic friends ever?!
It was hard to choose a favorite from the G family's session, but I love this one of just mom and dad together. So romantic and the perfect kick-off to the Fall photo season.
Early November brought my family's annual Christmas card shoot. Always a chaotic production, but I couldn't be happier with the result! Thanks to my dad for gracefully taking instruction and getting this shot for me. :)
Next up in my packed Fall season was Laura's graduation shoot. We shot on campus, which is one of the most beautiful locations in our area, and the light at golden hour couldn't have been better!
I had the chance to do another mini-session with a family friend who just received her Ph.D and needed some new headshots. She looked stunning!
Late November brought one of the biggest and most ambitious photoshoots of my career. Mitch and Ren's styled wedding shoot at The Barn at Shady Lane was a production that came from an idea, months of planning, plenty of trial and error, and lots of help from willing friends and family. I could not have pulled it off without my amazing vendors! Thank you again The Barn at Shady Lane, Stems and Styles, Somer Beauty, and Angie's Cakes. <3
On an unseasonably warm day after Thanksgiving, my sisters and I went to the park for a small fantasy-inspired shoot in the woods.
Next up was Josh and Katharine's engagement session at The Botanical Gardens. I love this shot highlighting both of their engagement rings!
Samuel and Hosanna's Christmasy sweetheart session was also a favorite of the year. I love when I get to work with my good friends! These two are absolutely adorable together.
And finally, I wrapped up the year with a wintery 1st birthday party for this darling little cousin of mine. Spending time with family was the perfect way to end the photography season, and begin the holiday season. <3
I hope you enjoyed this little look at the year past. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I look forward to working with you and sharing with you in 2016!
Last weekend my husband's family got together to celebrate the 1st birthday of the smallest member, Miss Navi Jane, and I was honored to document the day. Navi Jane's birthday party was "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" themed, and included all things frilly, pink, and girly. I absolutely loved it all! I hope you enjoy these snippets of her day! :)
Last month my Uncle Chris and his fiancé jetted off to Italy to tie the knot on the beautiful Amalfi Coast. It was a dream wedding, and the pictures were absolutely beautiful. This past weekend they held a stateside wedding reception, so all of their friends and family could celebrate with them! It was such a fun evening! I managed to photograph some of the details before the sun set and I thought it would be fun to share! :)
4th of July has always been one of my very favorite holidays, and this year was one of the best ones yet - even though it was uncharacteristically cool weather! The reason this year was so special was because both my and Bret's families were able to spend the day all together for the first time! We had a huge gathering in my in-laws' neck of the woods, and we enjoyed TWO barbecues, homemade ice cream, games of bad minton and football, go-cart rides, swimming, kayaking, and fireworks in the rain. :) Here are some photos of our day. Enjoy!
